There is no other word to describe them By Tanya I swear everyone int his book with the exception of Jaybo and Tank were Rachet as hell.. Myia, Skylar, Kelly and every female in this book were just stupid. There is no other word to describe them. I have read other books that made me want to slap customers but I swear I was wishing I was a genie so I could dive into the pages and just beat the snot out of O'Myia and Skylar. First of all I understand she had been in a relationship with Marley since she was a teenager and had 8 years invested but the mfer put his hands on her for her jumping his side chick. He blatantly cheated on and disrespected her to her face. Why go thru with the divorce to keep going back. Jaybo was a good dude to her from day one and she was just simple and stupid and I swear I can't stand her character. Skylar is no better. Q beat her baby out of her and was abusive way before that and she disrespected Tank for what???? UGH I didn't give the book 3 stars because I didn't like the characters I think that was the authors intention so she did good with making the readers feel some type of way about the characters however the flow of the story was a little off it jumped from character to character and some things didn't make sense like Myia telling Marley it was their last time and when he got up to leave she as begging him to stay. It had me think the girl was bipolar. Same thing with Skylar she wanted Tank to forgive her but she didn't reqret cheating??? Where they do that at??? I didn't hate the story but I wasn't in love with it I believe she did an okay job for this being her first book. With continued practice her skills will no doubt improve because she clearly has the imagination of an author.

Jaybo really trying to love her, she is totally confused about her feelings. I can see how she feels about both men, I can even understand loving them both. Marley has always been in her life, even though he was not worthy of her. Then Jaybo comes alone and show her how she should be treated. I believe she loves both for different reasons. Marley really does not want her, he just doesn't want anybody else to have her, especially Jaybo, Marley on a ego trip. She has even had a baby for Jaybo. I blame Omyia for all of the drama going on around her. I guess it is true that you don't know what you got until it is not there any more. Marley ole arrogant fool.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Too many grammatical errors By Marisa I couldn't stay focused on the book, because I was constantly having to reread the run on sentences. I was also distracted by the poor spelling & use of the wrong homophones. It probably could've been a really good read if they had bothered to use an editor

Cultivating what is right, rather than focusing on what is wrong, for therapy that works.

People enter therapy not just because they are stuck and struggling, but also because they are ready for change and have some hope of experiencing it. That readiness is a manifestation of each person’s innate resilience, their capacity to work on their own behalf to heal. Many of the common modes of clinical work focus on pathology, the effects of habits or conditions that can be healed through clinical work. Eileen Russell, without discounting the importance of pathology, offers us the idea that the best way to help with what’s going wrong in people’s lives is to build from the foundation of what’s going right. In this book, therapists will learn how to identify the potential for resilience in clients and help them cultivate and deepen it for lasting change. Drawing on interpersonal neurobiology and affect regulation research, as well as a number of theoretical orientations including Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Focusing, attachment theory, and EMDR, Russell provides the essential tools and background for any therapist interested in engaging in resilience-oriented therapy. She includes a wealth of thoughtfully annotated examples from her own clinical work, shares inspiring, illuminating stories of patients who have become more resilient through therapy, and offers many practical tips for clinicians along the way.

Restoring Resilience: Discovering Your Clients' Capacity for Healing, by Eileen Russell

Review “This book is a refreshing piece in the literature on counseling for clinicians and should be included in education of mental health professionals. It reminds us about the importance of healing and overcoming adversities over pathologizing them. . . . [A]n important read for all mental health professionals since resilience is a compulsory element of therapy, and one that must receive more attention.” (Somatic Psychotherapy Today)“[R]eading Eileen Russell’s new book, Restoring Resilience, is as transformative as it is informative. Russell elevates the concept of resilience to an innate process that drives and orients us toward growth, expands into interpersonal connections, and is based in the affective experience. . . . While the concepts Russell presents are at times dense and complex, she cleverly parses them with several vignettes, diagrams, and examples ― many of which can be used in the moment with the client. Russell encourages us to deepen our understanding of resilience, as well as our own capacity for experiencing it alongside our clients.” (PsychCentral)“Dr. Russell’s approach and methods are clear and concise, and would benefit anyone who needs to discover the capacity for rekindling their inner light. . . . [M]ainly directed to mental health providers, [this book] could also be extremely useful to: educators of individuals with special needs; those working in the prison system; human resource departments; members of the clergy; counselors in drug and alcohol recovery programs; counselors in homeless shelters.” (Psychology Today, Dr. Diane Brain Health)“Highly recommended for the modern therapist.” (Metapsychology Online Reviews)“Restoring Resilience provides an innovative and convincing roadmap to optimize clients’ resilience through the clinical interaction. Embedded in Russell’s model is an understanding that resilience is a core component of the healthy individual that, as a construct, mirrors the physiological construct of homeostasis. Similar to homeostasis, the self has a natural range around a set point that optimizes reactions to challenges. The expanded range around a set point is Russell’s definition of resilience and the goal of psychotherapy. Russell’s intellectual agility shines through as she deconstructs clinical vignettes from emotional, historical, interpersonal, and neuroscience perspectives.” (Stephen Porges, PhD, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; author of The Polyvagal Theory)“In this wonderfully rich synthesis of theory, science, and clinical application, Eileen Russell takes us on an insightful and inspiring exploration of how the process of therapy can be deepened and enhanced when resilience, rather than psychopathology, becomes our focus. It is a must read for any clinician interested in more readily and reliably recognizing and making optimal use of our clients’ innate capacity for healing and transformation. I highly recommend it.” (Ronald J. Frederick, PhD, psychologist; author of Living Like You Mean It)“As someone who has researched the positive effects of learning AEDP on the person of the therapist, I welcome Russell's book. Through ample case examples, annotated transcripts, and eloquent disquisition, Russell enables the reader to understand and experience how resilience-oriented work enlivens stuck clients and stuck therapists. Whether AEDP is your home theory or not, you will find clinical wisdom and, I dare say, inspiration within these pages.” (Hanna Levenson, PhD, Professor, Wright Institute; author of Brief Dynamic Therapy: An Attachment-based, Experiential Approach)

About the Author Eileen Russell, PhD, is a clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City and Montclair, NJ. She is a senior faculty and founding member of the AEDP Institute and has taught and supervised people in AEDP nationally and internationally for many years. She is also an adjunct clinical instructor at NYU/Bellevue Hospital Center where she was formerly a Senior Psychologist working with dually diagnosed individuals. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Clear, insightful, and empathetic By Amazon Customer Dr. Russell has been thinking about resilience for years - long before most people - and it shows. Clear, rigorous, and approachable, she explains how therapists can help patients with resilience - and even (in the final chapter) how therapists themselves have become more resilient. The best way to get a sense for the book, and for Dr. Russell, is from her own words. Resilience, she writes:"is not just about being able to "move on despite." Rather, it is also about the process of trying to figure out how to move on when we cannot. How do we reknot the rope or make a new one? When broken, we forget or we cannot find our grounding, our base, our core. We feel lost. But it does not mean the ground is not there, that the core is not intact. We simply may not be able to do it on our own. That's what finding and restoring resilience in therapy are all about."

By Amazon Customer Though the writing is less than sparkling, the ideas put forth are lucid and important. Every therapist should be familiar with these deeply human and optimistic paradigms. A unique offering that will hopefully inspire further writing on this important topic.

The Truth About Lord Stoneville (The Hellions of Halstead Hall), by Sabrina Jeffries

From Booklist Oliver Sharpe, the Marquess of Stoneville, needs a fiancée fast or his autocratic grandmother is not only going to disinherit Oliver but his four siblings, too. Oliver’s plan to hire a “fiancée” at one of London’s brothels quickly changes when he runs into Maria Butterfield. Not only is Maria an annoyingly outspoken commoner; she is American, which is enough to have Oliver’s grandmother quickly rescinding her decree. All Oliver has to do to secure Maria’s assistance is to help her find her own fiancé, Nathan Hyatt, who vanished after arriving in London several weeks ago. There is just one small problem: once Oliver locates Maria’s fiancé, he may find it difficult to let the lady go. The first in a captivating new Regency-set series by the always entertaining Jeffries, this tale has all of the author’s signature elements: delectably witty dialogue, subtly nuanced characters, and scorching sexual chemistry between two perfectly matched protagonists. --John Charles

But when one has an unfortunate accident the grandmother finally commands them all to marry within the year or all of them will loose their inheritance. Outraged they try to reason with her but without avail. But Oliver Sharpe, the Marquess of Stoneville has a cunning plan of his own. He means to find the most wretched and unappealing fiancée. One that his grandmother will never approve of and therefore call off the ridiculous plan to force him to marry.Maria Butterfield is a dreadful American who is stubborn, independent and dreadfully `inexperienced.' But Oliver soon finds Maria is more attractive than he knows what to do with and her American charm has a way of getting under his skin. A woman that is the complete opposite of what he usually prefers may just be what he needed all these years. But can he convince her of his true affections after blackmailing her to pretend to be his fiancée?This was a fun romance. I was charmed with Oliver's brothers and sisters as they tried to match make Maria and Oliver. Even they knew before Maria and Oliver that they were destined for each other! As they tried to get the 2 together (They also think if only Oliver marries then they won't have to!), the story gets more entertaining and outrageous. I can't wait to read how each of them gets caught in the marriage trap!Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favorite writers. The only reason I did not grade this story higher is because I actually found myself becoming more interested in Oliver's siblings as the story progressed! This is a solid story with very engaging characters. I am eager to find out more about the rest of the Sharpe clan and their devious grandmother. This series is one sure to delight Regency fans and keep them coming for more!Reviewed by Steph from the Bookaholics Romance Book Club

I'm sorry to have to say it and apparently most readers don't agree with me, but I was very disappointed by this book. I rushed out to get it before work this morning and was anticipating getting home this evening, snuggling up, and enjoying a great new read. I *never* start a book without finishing - I'm just unable to do it - but here I skimmed through about the second half of the book and will be posting it on Paperback Swap after I finish writing this review.I'm not even going to split my comments into "Pros" and "Cons," because frankly I don't know what I would put under the first section. I loved Lord Stoneville in "The School for Heiresses" series and was one of the many who thought - and hoped - that he was the mysterious benefactor "Cousin Michael" that would be revealed in Wed Him Before You Bed Him, the final book of that series. I was very happy with who it ended up being and how that book turned out, and all the more excited by the idea that Stoneville's story still lay ahead! What didn't I like exactly?1) THE CHARACTERS --- They were not at all three-dimensional and if you're a longtime historical romance reader, many of them feel very, very familiar. You have Freddy, the clumsy can't-hold-his-tongue completely clueless side character; Maria, the innocent, pure, spitfire of a heroine who somehow instantly sees through the hero's devil-may-care facade to the lost-boy who feels guilty and only wants love; and the tortured hero who has been sleeping his way through society until he meets the woman who immediately changes his views on everything and makes him realize the burden he carries is not his fault.2) STONEVILLE'S WICKED WAYS --- For those of us who read "The School for Heiresses" series, we're very familiar with (and dare I say fond of) Stoneville's bad-boy ways. Here, we hardly see any of that - we're *told* repeatedly what a rake and charmer he is, and everyone harps on this fact, but after meeting Maria (in the first few pages) he so quickly begins to experience the I-feel-about-a-woman-the-way-I-never-have-before phenomena that the remarkable change he is supposedly undergoing is not very remarkable at all. If you've never been introduced to his character before, you'll be left floundering, and if you have ... well WED HIM BEFORE YOU BED HIM came out 6 months ago and maybe it's just me, but I've read so many other romances since then that his wicked ways are not all that fresh in my mind.3) THE ROMANCE --- I did not find this romance at all believable because everything happens *SO* quickly! It's almost impossible (IMHO) to have a book span 1-2 weeks of time and contain a credible romance, however when it does work it's only because the characters have known each other for a lengthy time before the book starts, so although the reader is meeting them for the first time they already have a history together, whatever that history may be.Also, echoing what I wrote in another review for an equally disappointing book (Suzanne Enoch's THE CARE AND TAMING OF A ROGUE): We're never really shown why he is THE ONE for her and she is THE ONE for him. I didn't understand why Maria is the first one to be able to see past Stoneville's defenses; we're told on two different occasions that he's surprised when she remarks on things that even his closest friends haven't noticed - I'm sorry, is she psychic or is everyone else just absolutely clueless? I think even Dr. Phil could have picked up on some of those clues and made those insights into Oliver's personality. Likewise, I'm not sure why Oliver is all of a sudden drawn to this one young woman when for the past two decades he's viewed the female sex as valuable for pretty much only one thing - and even that is done without any attachment, as he only has bed partners and no short- or long-term mistresses. What's so special about *her* in particular?4) THE ROMANTIC ACTION --- Another romance-related problem I had was one I've had with a few other of Jeffries' books, the main one that comes to mind being NEVER SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL. After literally only 24 hours of knowing one another, Maria and Oliver are getting hot and heavy in his carriage on the ride between the investigator's office and the dress shop - they practically do everything but have sex. Going that fast is not usually something I like when reading contemporary romances, so in historicals forget it! We're supposed to be watching them fall in love, but all I really saw was a strong case for lust, which is great but definitely not why I buy romance books."THE HELLIONS OF HALSTEAD HALL" SERIES:I enjoyed the family's interactions and am hoping that the other siblings' books will be better. I'm particularly looking forward to Minerva and Celia's stories, as I think they'll be strong and unusual heroines and I'm hoping that one of them will have Jackson Pinter (the investigator) as their hero. I really liked him in WED HIM BEFORE YOU BED HIM and was happy to see him again here. He seems like he would be a very interesting and definitely not run-of-the-mill hero.RECOMMENDATIONS:Though it pains me to say this because I'm a Sabrina Jeffries fan, skip this book and read one (or more) of the following instead:~ By Sabrina Jeffries: WED HIM BEFORE YOU BED HIM, THE PIRATE LORD, A NOTORIOUS LOVE, ONE NIGHT WITH A PRINCE or IN THE PRINCE'S BED~ Fake engagements: Mary Balogh's A Summer to Remember or Slightly Sinful; Amanda Quick's The Paid Companion~ Where the bad-boy-turned-good is done right: Suzanne Enoch's London's Perfect Scoundrel, Always a Scoundrel, THE RAKE, or TAMING RAFE; Gaelen Foley's Lord of Fire; Mary Jo Putney's The Rake or Thunder and Roses; Lisa Kleypas' Worth Any Price

I have read many romance novels, and some were so bad that I stopped reading them for a few years. I started to read again with this book. It is absolutely wonderful and entertaining! (Unlike various other authors whose books fizzled at the end.) This book sizzles! And who says you can't fall in love in 2 weeks? I did.Thank you, Sabrina Jeffries. Keep 'em coming!

As a person we always have the child like attitude in us especially when it comes to food By TIKLAfan As a person we always have the child like attitude in us especially when it comes to food. What more could you ask for when you are already a mom and wanted to bond with your kids and make sure they eat healthy. This book is recommended, all recipes included are easy to look and easy to understand. This is really an interesting book that you could always treasure and pass to your kids in the future.

This book included gluten free version of classic recipes like chocolate chip cookies By Marija If you have any digestive issues or just want to eat healthy, while wanting to any pastry, then get this book. The author included tips in baking gluten free goodies without being too stringent or technical about it. This book has recipes for cakes, breads, cookies, muffins, pies, and other baked goodies. Majority of recipes included preparation and cooking time, and some doesn't. You can find interesting recipes here - chocolate zucchini bread, banana cookies, pumpkin glazed cookies, sesame crisp cookies, cowboy cookies, just to name a few. This book included gluten free version of classic recipes like chocolate chip cookies. This book would have been nicer if the author included photos of the baked products. The author also included a free book about organic foods.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It just perfect. By Lukie I just love this book. It starts of first by explaining what a gluten-free diet is and what gluten actually is. It goes further down to give a short list of food which contains this protein called gluten. It tells you the different class of people who follow a gluten-free diet like people who suffer from celiac disease. It talks about baking without gluten and its challenges and goes further more to give tips for baking gluten-free. This book contains a total of 75 baking recipes that are certified gluten free that are a lot more healthy than other wheat-based pastries. It also talks in details on organic food and their benefits.

There are 50 pages in this book counting the title page. I know - I counted them. When you open this book on your Kindle, the first thing you see is a notice that there are "10 minutes left in this book". The "chapters" are 2-4 pages long. Only one chapter has recipes and they are basic gluten free recipes you could get for free anywhere on the Internet. Not worth buying.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. my slow cooker is going to become my favorite By Midge Cooking instrument. I am looking forward to making almost all the recipes in this book. I gave a 4 star because of the optional cheese...being a traditional Paleo follower we do not eat dairy...the honey garlic chicken...yummy! The apple cider drink with spices heavenly and perfect for fall and winter. I am looking forward to making the fudge for Christmas. I was a little disappointed that it did not have servings...I will learn that after doing this a few times.

Prepare healthy meals even if you're busy By Shiela Francisco Our diet nowadays consists of too many processed and unnatural foods with too much salt, preservatives, and unhealthy fats. Since people are very busy with their jobs, a quick fix to their hunger would be grabbing junk food or eating fast food. Sometimes, they don't even at all. These unhealthy eating habits have resulted to unhealthy weight gain and/or weigh lost and various diseases. After reading this book, I have learned the basics of a Paleo diet and how it is more nutritionally balanced when it comes to fats. People can become hesitant when it comes to cooking their own meals because it can take time. However, this book suggested the use of a slow cooker and how it can save time and stress during busy days and shave off unneeded calories. Actually, I have never known that a slow cooker can help me in preparing healthy meals without taking up too much of my time. Also, this book has included healthy and delicious recipes that are easy to follow. Now, I have a guide when it comes to making my own meal plans. I learned so much from this book and I will definitely recommend this.

Kalissa Smith stripped off a pair of dirt-streaked garden gloves and paced backward from the Newbergs' house, smiling with both pride and satisfaction. It had taken a full month, but the new lawn gleamed emerald under the August sun. Beyond its scalloped edges, fresh, black dirt was mounded in flower beds positioned against the brick walls of the two-story colonial. Evergreens and dwarf maples were clustered in one corner of the spacious yard, providing shade and privacy."The ornamental peppers definitely work," said Megan, crossing from their company pickup truck in the driveway."It's a bit of a twist," said Kalissa.Megan drew a deep breath. "I think they'll be happy with the twist.""They'd better be happy."The Newbergs were not the easiest clients in the world, but at least the job was finally complete."Did we make any money on this one?" Megan asked."I sure hope we did. We were underwater on the turf, but we saved on labor.""Only because we did most of it ourselves.""Good thing we charge ourselves such reasonable prices."Megan smiled at the joke. "It does look fantastic."Kalissa couldn't help flexing her sore shoulders. Her calves were tight and her abs ached from so many days of physical work. On the bright side, she had absolutely no need to visit a gym, and she was developing a very nice tan."I'm going to take some pictures for the web site," she said.Mosaic Landscaping had been in business for just under a year, starting when Kalissa and Megan had both earned college diplomas in landscape design."There were three more inquires on our voice mail this afternoon," said Megan."Can we at least grab dinner before we start a new project?" Megan chuckled. "On top of everything else, you want food?""Call me high-maintenance.""I could go for a burger.""Benny's, here we come."Benny's Burgers was a funky little restaurant tucked in an alleyway near their landscape shop on the west side of Chicago. They'd rented the aging storefront and warehouse space because of its generous size and reasonable rent. Esthetics had little to do with the decision—though they had painted and brightened the upstairs apartment, moving two single beds and some used furniture into the space.Kalissa retrieved the camera from the front of their serviceable, blue pickup truck, making her way around the yard to take shots from various angles. At the same time, Megan gathered up the last of the hand tools, stowing them in the pickup box. Then she perched herself on the tailgate, scrolling through pages on her tablet."Any new inquiries from the web site?" Kalissa called as she lined up for a picture of the flagstone walkway edged with pink and white peonies. The front porch and double doors filled in the background, and the sun was hitting the flowers at just the right angle."There are still a lot of people looking for maintenance."Megan and Kalissa had talked about adding a yard maintenance service to their business. It wasn't where they wanted to focus, but if they could hire a decent crew, they might be able to make a little extra money. Their business was gradually increasing its customer base, but the margins were thin.Kalissa clicked the final shots."What do you think about doing that?" she asked as she made her way back to the truck."Is there something you've neglected to tell me?" Megan was staring at the tablet screen.Kalissa stopped in front of her. "About what?"Megan turned the tablet so it was facing Kalissa.Kalissa reached out to steady it.She squinted against the bright sunshine, and a photo of a bride and groom came into focus. The man was handsome in his tux, and the woman's dress was gorgeous, highlighted by a huge, multi-colored bouquet of roses, tulips and lavender."See it?" asked Megan."The Ferdinand Pichard roses?" They were stunning. Ka-lissa had never seen them in such a deep magenta. "The bride""What about the—" Then Kalissa saw it. She snapped her hand back in astonishment."It's you.""It's not me." Kalissa peered at the woman's startlingly familiar face. It obviously couldn't be her. "Photo-shopped?" she asked."That's what I thought," said Megan. "But there are a bunch more." She moved so they could both see the screen while she scrolled through other pictures."What on earth?" Kalissa took control of the tablet. "Is this a joke?" She looked at Megan. "Did you do this?"Megan stood up for a better view. "I only found it two minutes ago."Kalissa stopped on a picture of the bride and groom cutting the wedding cake."Nice," said Megan. "Seven tiers.""I obviously have money in this alternate life." Kalissa took in each of the bride's poses and expressions. "Too bad I can't float us a loan."She struggled to figure out where her head shots could have originated, guessing this was some kind of on-line game."My birthday's coming up," she ventured, trying to imagine who, other than Megan, would spend this much time on a joke gift."Nice groom," said Megan.Kalissa took another look at the man. "He is pretty hot.""It says here he's Shane Colborn.""Why do I know that name?""Colborn Aerospace," said Megan, identifying a prominent Chicago company."So, it was obviously somebody from Chicago who did this.""I mean, this is the real guy. He owns Colborn Aerospace.""Uh, oh." Now Kalissa was worried. "He's not going to think this is funny. Can anybody see this page?""I got it from a Nighttime News link." Kalissa's confusion grew. "The national site?" Megan nodded."Why? How? We have to get them to take it down.""I think it's legit.""That's ridiculous.""I think you have a doppelganger.""That's not a real thing." Kalissa studied the bride's face. "And there's no way someone could possibly look this similar."It was a joke. These had to be pictures of her that somebody had taken without her knowledge."Maybe you were part of a cloning experiment?""I doubt they had human cloning when I was born.""I hope they still don't have it now," said Megan. "You know, there is one other possibility,"Kalissa waited a moment. But when Megan didn't finish, she glanced up. "What?""You have an identical twin," said Megan.Kalissa shook her head."You were adopted.""I was nearly a year old when I was adopted. My mother would have known if I had a twin sister. She would have said something."Gilda Smith hadn't been the most organized person in the world. She was fond of sherry, and her memory was never the greatest. But you didn't forget that your adopted daughter had a twin sister.Megan looked pointedly down at the screen. "Maybe they split you up.""Who would do that? And why keep it a secret?""It says she's Darci Rivers. Well, Darci Colborn now.""My birth name was Thorp.""And your legal name is Smith. Whoever adopted this Darci would have changed hers too.""It can't be," said Kalissa, fighting the logic of Megan's assumption. "It just can't."Megan shrugged her shoulders, clearly resting her case.As Kalissa took in every inch of the woman's face, her chest tightened, and a strange buzzing sensation made its way along her limbs. She struggled to wrap her head around the information. The resemblance was far too close to be a coincidence. Unless this was some elaborate photo-cropping joke, there was a real possibility she had a secret twin sister."You should call her," said Megan. "Maybe she can float us a loan."Kalissa was appalled. "You didn't actually say that.""The woman just married a billionaire.""So what?" The Colborn money had absolutely nothing to do with Kalissa."The minute she gets a look at you—""I'm not about to let her get a look at me.""Why not?""Because I'm not going to be that person.""Really? What person is it you're not going to be?""The long-lost relative who pops up the minute there's money in play.""You don't have to ask her for money."Kalissa wasn't fooling around here. "It doesn't matter if I ask or not. They'll think I've been waiting in the wings all these years, and now I've decided to pounce.""She'll probably just offer it up.""Stop it.""We'd pay her back.""See?" said Kalissa. "See? Even you think I'm after her money. And you know me better than anyone.""It's not like she'd miss a few thousand. Temporarily'''Kalissa closed the window and handed back the tablet. "No. No. And no.""You can't just ignore this.""Watch me."Riley Ellis was both thrilled and terrified. He had a newly expanded aircraft factory, a significant new sales contract, a massive mortgage on the commercial building and a maxed out line of credit. Ellis Aviation was entering a whole new phase of existence."Flipping the switch now," he said to Wade Cormack on the other end of the cell phone in Seattle."Congratulations," said Wade. He was the owner of Zoom Tac, the company supplying most of the parts for the new E-22 short haul jet.Riley twisted the switch, and the main overhead lights came on in sequence. Computers came to life, and robotic machines started their power-up sequence along the assembly line. The hundred staff members on the floor sent up a cheer. He hadn't really turned everything on with a single switch. The supervisors and foremen at each station had simply taken the overhead lights as a signal to go live. It was eight a.m., August 16th, day one of the expanded operation. From the interior walkway on the third level, Riley gave everyone a wave and a salute. "The clock is officially ticking," he said to Wade. The cheering gradually died down, and everyone's attention turned to their tasks."Now you just need to get the glitches worked out of the supply chain," said Wade."The custom rivets finally arrived. Colorado's good on the sheet metal. How are your new parts certifications coming?" Riley moved along the walkway to his office, the spring-loaded door shutting out the noise behind him."My guys say they're on track.""That's great." Riley plopped down on his desk chair. The new office was compact and utilitarian, with big windows overlooking the factory floor. His production and sales managers had offices on either side of him, with the various unit supervisors near their staff's stations throughout the facility.Out of habit from all the recent construction, he'd worn cargo pants and a t-shirt, his feet clad in steel toed boots. Part of him was itching to get down there on the floor and plunge in. But he realized he had to stay at the helm.He had over a hundred and fifty workers now, operating on three shifts. They needed a leader, not a colleague. And he had to keep focused on the company's strategic direction."Good luck," said Wade."Talk to you in a few days." Riley ended the call.As he settled back in his chair, his thoughts went f leetingly to his father, Dalton Colborn. The man had never once acknowledged Riley as his illegitimate son, and he'd certainly never given him any support or encouragement. Still, their lives had ended up following a similar path.At the moment, Riley couldn't help but wonder if this was how Dalton had felt in the early days when his fledgling company had first started to grow. Had he experienced this same combination of exhilaration and flat-out fear? Dalton had gone from nothing to a billion dollar aerospace company before he'd died, so he must have taken chances along the way.Shane Colborn had inherited that dynasty. Shane was the legitimate son, the golden child."Well, Shane," Riley said out loud to the empty office, wishing he had a shot of tequila or even a beer to use for a toast. "Let's find out if your illegitimate half-brother can give you a run for your money."His phone pinged with a text message. He set aside his thoughts and checked it. The text was from Ashton Watson, his high school friend. It was a photo tagged: Blew my mind.Another text came immediately from Ashton. I've met the bride.Curious, Riley tapped the photo. It expanded to show a picture of Shane dressed in a tuxedo standing next to a gorgeous, auburn haired woman in white lace. She had a trim body, bright green eyes and flawless skin, a true ten on the hotness scale. Then again, a ten was exactly what Riley would have expected for Shane. His office door opened, and Ashton strode right in. "She's a piece of work, that one. Nasty as they come.""She doesn't look nasty," Riley couldn't help but observe. She looked classy and beautiful, and also very happy. Then again, she'd just married a billionaire in a lavish wedding that was reported to have cost several hundred thousand dollars. That would probably make the nastiest of women happy."Just don't tick her off," said Ashton."How do you know her?""She was Jennifer's roommate.""Jennifer?"Ashton gave an exasperated sigh, lowering himself into the single guest chair. "I dated her for four months.""Did I meet her?""Yeah. At least once. I'm sure you met her. Blond hair, blue eyes, great legs.""You just described every date you've had since freshman year.""She was different. Anyway, it doesn't matter. It's going to go bad for Shane. I'd put money on it.""Couldn't happen to a nicer guy," Riley drawled.Ashton grinned and cocked his head toward the interior windows. "Looks really good out there.""I can't believe we're finally up and running.""I knew you'd do it.""I haven't done it yet." Riley rose to gaze out at the factory himself. Machines were running. People were working. But it was a long, long road to any kind of profitability. He sure hoped he could make it.Ashton stood beside him. "Yeah, you have. Before long, you'll have more contracts than you'll know what to do with.""Believe it or not, I've been thinking about Dalton.""Seriously?""I was thinking, he had to have started out like this, same risks, same fears, same hopes."It took Ashton a second to respond. When he did, his tone was thoughtful. "You're more like him than Shane is, you know.""That's not my ambition. Riley had no admiration or respect for his biological father. He hated the man.""Shane had it handed to him on a silver platter. You had to fight for every inch to get where you are.""Where I am is deep in debt and tip-toeing along a cliff of complete disaster.""That's what makes it exciting," said Ashton. "No risk, no reward.""Is that why you fly the way you do? The adrenaline rush?"Ashton was a helicopter pilot, and he volunteered for search and rescue on his days off. He had a reputation for saying yes to the riskiest of flights."Sure," Ashton said with a shrug. "That and it impresses the girls.""Like you've ever had trouble getting girls." For some reason, Riley took another look at the picture of Shane and his bride."Her name is Darci Rivers," said Ashton. There was something compelling in the woman's emerald eyes, a secret in her lush smile. Riley suddenly pictured her shiny hair splayed across a white pillowcase. He shifted and quickly banished the image."You think he made a mistake?" he asked Ashton."Oh, he made a mistake all right. That creature's got claws.""Well, I hope she distracts him," said Riley. He and Shane would be going after the same airline contracts from here on in. If Shane was newly married to a handful of a wife, it might give Riley an advantage.Through the glass of the restaurant window, a good looking, neatly dressed man caught Kalissa's eye for a second time.He was staring openly now as she wheeled a trio of azalea plants across the lighted patio garden. It would be nice to think he was interested in her. He was extremely attractive, with dark eyes, a straight nose, and the kind of square chin that made a man seem powerful. But she was dressed in dirt streaked blue jeans, a faded green T-shirt and a pair of scuffed, serviceable work boots. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail. At least it had started the day that way. By now, it likely resembled a rat's nest. And the morning's fifteen second application of mascara would have long since rubbed off.No. The thoughts running through his head were not about getting her phone number. Judging by his growing frown, he was probably offended by her dirty, disheveled state as he tried to enjoy a refined meal.

Riley is the illegitimate half-brother to Shane Colburn of Sex, Lies and the CEO. His father never acknowledged him, and Riley grew up resenting the fact that Shane seemed to have it all. As an adult, he went into the same business as Shane, and has made a point of competing with him. One day he sees a woman who is the spitting image of Shane's wife and believes it is Darci and that she is attempting to spy on him.Kalissa is a landscaper who has recently started her own business. One day her partner sees a picture of the new Mrs. Colburn and comments on the resemblance. Kalissa doesn't take it seriously until she is confronted by an angry Riley. Once she has convinced him of who she is, both become aware of the attraction that has flared between them. Riley later contacts her and hires her to landscape his home.Riley considers the possibility of using Kalissa's resemblance to Darci as a weapon against Shane, but quickly discovers that he's far more interested in Kalissa herself. He really likes her blunt speech and innate honesty. He refrains from telling her who he is and his connection to her sister. He knows he's going to have to tell her the truth, but is afraid of what will happen when he does. When Kalissa and Riley begin dating, she realizes her resemblance to Darci could create problems for the other woman. I loved the initial meeting between the two women, and Kalissa's determination to make sure Darci realizes that she isn't after anything financial. I loved watching them get to know each other. There are some interesting twists that come about, that will complicate Kalissa's relationship with Riley.Kalissa is falling fast and hard for Riley. She likes the way he isn't intimidated by her attitude. They have a lot of fun together. And when they give in to their attraction the passion is incredible. Just when things are looking really good for them, the truth comes out. Kalissa feels betrayed and is heartbroken that Riley was only with her to get to Shane. She doesn't want to listen to anything he has to say and has lost all trust in him.I loved the fact that Riley doesn't give up. He knows he screwed up and is willing to do anything to get back in Kalissa's good graces. There are some really fun parts as he does some pretty wild things to get her to listen to him. Kalissa still has feelings for him, but trusting him again is something that is really difficult. I liked seeing them work their way back to each other. I really liked the event that showed Kalissa the truth of Riley's feelings.I have to say that in this book Shane did not come across very well. I got very frustrated with the way he rode roughshod over Kalissa's wishes regarding Riley. I know he was trying to protect her, but she's a grown woman. It was also interesting to see the interactions between him and Riley. Things got really intense the day that Riley showed up at Shane's home to see Kalissa. That confrontation had some unexpected revelations and was the beginning of something neither had foreseen. The final resolution of both Kalissa and Riley's relationship and the one between Riley and Shane was very well done. I'd love to see them a couple years down the line and see how they are doing.

There are some interesting twists that come about, but the book was truly an enjoyable read.

To what lengths will Riley go to seek revenge for being denied his birthright? This is a very good book that I really enjoyed. Can't wait for book three.
