He does a wonderful job bringing the historical view of the samurai with the sensibility and reality of any great historian. I would also recommend viewing his YouTube videos.

Using both his educational background and academic standards of research, this publishing hits home in tearing away myth. In my honest opinion, the book does exactly as it claims: to replace myth with researched truth. If you like fanciful writings this book is not for you. However, if you are interested in knowing the practices, life, and ethics of the real Japanese warrior-class, this is your book. I have spent hours in this tome. It will not disappoint.

I am a Japanese historian and am currently working on a book about the true ninja of ancient Japan and found most of what was stated very interesting.I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Japanese history.
