I was pretty fuzzy on why it was By Elizabeth Elle The Liver Healing Diet is a book chock-full of information on health, diet, and surprisingly delicious recipes. A doctor and a dietician wrote this book, but I wasn’t ever confused or overwhelmed by any terminology used. The book outlines information in a clear and understandable way, with plenty of pictures and diagrams to help. This book focuses in particular on how to take care of your liver and why this is important. I learned so much from this book! Although I obviously knew the liver was important, I was pretty fuzzy on why it was, and how to keep the liver in the best shape possible. This book answered all my questions. It provided information on the best foods for your liver, as well as good exercises to keep your body healthy. The book also had an amazing chapter about how to prepare for “roadblocks” - or certain situations that may prevent us from being as healthy as possible. I loved this chapter. It provided so many ideas for attacking these roadblocks head on! I also loved the amount of recipes provided in this book. Recipes are broken into breakfast, shakes and smoothies, snacks and appetizers, sandwiches, soups and salads, pasta, rice and grains, chicken, beef, pork, and fish, and finally, desserts- my favorites! My favorite recipe of the whole book has to be baked peaches with dark chocolate. Sure, sounds simple, but it’s AMAZING!

I got it for my dad (66) who is currently working through fatty liver disease. They recommend overhauling your diet (more protein, a LOT less sugar, cutting sodium) and recommend what foods are the best for your liver. He ran through their suggestions with his doctor and his doctor okay-ed them all, which was nice to hear.One of the best things about this is that it has lots of recipes, shopping lists, meal plans and other helpful charts--water intake charts, physical exercise trackers,10,000 step trackers . Having something to fill in and keep him accountable really helped my dad.I helped him make some of the recipes and they were pretty tasty: tomato soup with black beans and chickpeas, chicken with quiona and vegetables, teff with dried fruit.I've bought a few books on liver issues before, like Fatty Liver You Can Reverse It. That one was ok but it seems a little dated, and had WAY to much personal info in the form of that random essay they threw in there (seems like they were just trying to make it longer). With this book the authors are also doctors, and there's lots of helpful info about relevant websites and apps too.Even though I don't have liver issues I appreciated the general info about specific, target ideas for eating better. I hate when people just give generic advice but this had lots of real world stuff I could use: examples of quick healthy meals, tips for navigating buffets,

It is comprehensive, detailed and takes care of not only the liver, but one's overall health with a variety of nutrition facts. Although healing the liver is the primary focus on this book, the information given could help any reader down a healthier path.The authors start off with giving a full detailed explanation of how the body works in correlation to the liver. They have a nice job of providing science that's easily digestible to the reader. Bulletpoints are given throughout the book, providing key points of focus to the reader as they begin or continue on with their health journey.Lai and Kasaraneni provide options to the reader for food preparation. Often there are diets that limit what one can eat. This diet still has that. However, the authors provide a better variety of food choices to the reader that will make it more likely that one will stay on the plan.What I like in particular about this book is that there are multiple chapters of recipes! Pages and pages of different choices for every meal of the day. And Lai and Kasaraneni even go further to provide a water intake guide , a grocery staple list and meal plan worksheets. The reader is really set up to succeed.
