1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic story! Very well written! By C. Brant James did a fantastic job on this story. Though, I'm not surprised after seeing his other books Africanus and The Thunderbolt. He has a knack for writing and this story is no exception. This story takes place in a mine underground and has a lot of deep philosophical meaning behind everything going on. You really are left asking questions about purpose and identity with this read. I recommend this for anyone looking for a short read to enter the mining world into the mind of one miner who has been doing it for more than 20 years.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. very captivating short story By Cyndi Jones Songbird is a story about a miner, who had the misfortune to be inside the mine when a blast of dynamite went off.The fear is transferred very well and you can almost sense the panic as you read the words. And at the end you can feel the sadness even though the miner was elated to be free. The little canary kept him company as he limped injured out of the collapsed mine shaft, kept him sane.
