This is the third book in this series, and by far the worst. The plots of all three books start off exactly the same with a woman pregnant by a dead beat jerk, they meet a Hart brother and fall in love, the end. It would be nice if at least one of the couples in this series got together under other circumstances, but that is not even close to the most frustrating thing about this book. This book came out about two weeks after the last one, but it seemed like the author had completely forgotten what she wrote in the previous books. There were two different characters in this book whose names were changed between book two and this one, including the hero's. The hero of this book is Freddie, and he is frequently called Fredric as well. In book one he was introduced as Wilfred. Not Fredric. There is also a seen in this book between the heroine of book two and her mother where there are several references to her ex. In book two his name was Duncan. Now he is being called Darren. I am an avid reader and prefer series where I can see what's going on with previous characters, but it makes it extremely difficult to immerse yourself in a story when the author can't seem to remember her characters from one book to the next. That issue notwithstanding, this was still my least favorite of the series. That Izzy would stay in a relationship for three years with someone who is so blatantly callous and uncaring to her, and that Freddie would spend two years watching his mate be treated that way (and be okay with it) makes it hard to actually care about either of these characters. The best part of the book was the interaction between the teenage characters Taylor, Tyson and Grant. If they grow up and get there own story and I might be tempted to read it, but otherwise this book did it for me and I won't be coming back to this author again.

Why does every book start out the same, with a pregnant woman and a baby daddy who treats the woman poorly and doesn't want the baby? It's getting old fast. However, I did appreciate that the conflict didn't revolve around exes this time. Finally. This story was not as strong as the first two. I somehow didn't connect with Freddie's character at all. I didn't like the fact that she accepted her boyfriend's uncaring, callous attitude towards her and made excuses for him. At least in the previous books, Amanda recognized what a rat her ex was when he accused her of lying to him about the baby then walked out on her, and Lucy tried and succeeded in escaping her abusive ex, despite her fear of him... but Izzy just laid down and accepted whatever crumbs her boyfriend would give her. I was rather disgusted when I came to the end and read what Izzie said to Freddie in the last scene. She gave him a totally lame reason for keeping him at arms' length all this while. Like, how much more did he have to do to prove his love? He might not have told her he loved her, but he had been there for her all the while and done all the things her boyfriend hadn't bothered to do, and she STILL insisted on staying with her bf. It was just... stupid.Freddie also came off as a bit of a lame duck because he had hung around Izzie for two years as her best friend while watching her boyfriend carelessly use her and treat her badly. Why didn't he say something or make a move? Let her know she had better options? Bah. Trevor and Theo (from the previous books) are so Alpha and protective but Freddie didn't come off like that. My impression of him is someone who's immensely caring, but weak.I did still enjoy the story and, as I said, was happy that the conflict was something different this time (which I am not mentioning in this review; no spoilers!). But I needed more background about the bad guys and how, although they're human, they've ended up so strong or skilled that even shifters--who have enhanced strength and speed--are no match for them. The pivotal scene with Izzy's brother is like every other scene in a movie where characters TALK TOO MUCH. It's an urgent situation, you should take immediate action, but instead you take time to chat and explain your motivations? Can we say stupid? Finally, I can't understand how Duncan, Lucy's ex in book 2, became "Darren" in this book. It feels like the author is getting careless with the editing, which is disappointing. I felt a bit let down by this book and hope the next one will be better.
