About the Author Dr. Fine received his graduate degree from University of Cincinnati in 1982 and has been on the faculty at California State Polytechnic University since 1981. His leadership among faculty and teaching excellence earned him the prestigious Wang Award in 2001, given to a distinguished professor within the California State University system (23 Universities), in this instance for exceptional commitment, dedication, and exemplary contributions within the areas of education and applied sciences. Dr. Fine is also a licensed psychologist who opened his practice in Southern California in 1987. His practice specializes in treating children with ADHD, learning disabilities, developmental disorders and parent child relations.

Strong Theoretical Foundational Support By Caffeine Drip I have owned every edition of this book and highly recommend it to any healthcare or social service professional. The Handbook on Animal Assisted Therapy provides an excellent overview of the issues surrounding the professionals, the clients/participants, and the dogs. This book provides excellent resources for articles by professionals in a variety of disciplines that is critical to understand if we are to maintain professional standards. It is a must have for entry level and seasoned professionals, alike.

Great for Animal Assisted Therapy users By Dan I have two of these now for use during presentations and my own clinical practice using a therapy animal in helping others. Great information, very detailed, great references, this is the DSMV of AAT interested folks, and then some. If you have questions, this has the answers. It's a very big hard cover, you will want to take it in stride as you're reading. Good glossary and index too.

LMFT This book is probably the standard text for the field of animal assisted therapy. It covers research, theory, conceptualizations and practice. As a family therapist who wants to continue to integrate animal assisted therapy in my practice, this book provides a summary of the state of the field.
