About the Author Chris Clarke gained his PhD in General Relativity at the University of Cambridge, later studying at Hamburg and York before taking up a Professorship in Applied Mathematics at the University of Southampton, leaving to work free-lance in 1999. Alongside his main work in theoretical cosmology he has published in brain physics, philosophy and religion, serving on various editorial boards including Journal of Physics A and Ecotheology.

I spent hours in the outdoors and loved climbing trees, competing with my friends to see who could do the most pull ups, push ups, raced across monkey bars and had amazing strength and flexibility.A while back I was at my mother in law’s and they had a climbing pole, in my mind I was just as strong and athletic as in my childhood...very wishful thinking. I couldn’t even make it up 12 inches. It was an eye opener for sure.I want to retrain my muscles so that I can achieve this as easily and effortlessly as when I was able to 15. Recently I was introduced to calisthenics workouts. These are workouts that use only your own bodyweight to improve strength, burn fat, and increase flexibility…pretty much all my goals. When it comes to exercise I do not enjoy using equipment and using just my body weight is awesome….since I can do all the workouts in my living room.As a mom, I have very little time to myself with a 3 year old and 1 1/2 year old so this 15 minute calisthenics workout for beginners ebook was excellent in that it fit into my schedule and was for beginners since by body strength has plummeted so much.I loved how the book encouraged me to set realistic goals… not goals that I had achieved in the past (ex. 150 pushups easily) but to start slow and set realistic goal for where I am now (10 pushups to start). It was worth getting this ebook as it combined the basic 15 minute workouts for my arms, legs, and abdomen. I’m so excited to go through these daily. From doing 0 a day to starting out with 10 and increasing the repetitions of each exercise I can already see progress in my endurance.

I especially liked this chapter “Seven Tips to Start and See Fast Results without Injuring Yourself”. Then, I was interested in 15-minute Calisthenics Workouts for the Abdominal Muscles. Amazingly interesting book!

Exercises for anyone By Rachel Horon I haven't had calisthenics since gym class, but I know that exercises using your body weight is something everyone can do. This book has many exercises, especially for beginners, with clear directions and variations when the "easy" moves need to be taken to the next level. The science behind a calisthenics workout is included as well as schedule and diet ideas to help transform your body. I liked the suggestions to maximize results like challenges and simple compound exercises. Illustrations and photos help visualize proper form. I started some of the exercises today and can feel the effects already. This is a plan I can stick to and even do with my kids. Recommended!
