Review Even though I've never personally struggled with addiction, I found that I could oddly relate to Jay's story. A great read for anyone and gives you a strong and daunting look at what's behind the decision making of an addict. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU PICK UP A COPY.I started reading this story and couldn't put it down! It is raw and jagged in its honesty. This story took me inside the experience of addiction from it's beginning to rock bottom and along the path toward healing. I need to share that I truly believe that this book will change lives! Thank you for writing this book!This is an awesome read for anyone who is struggling with addiction of any kind. I laughed and I cried. So much of this book speaks to me about my life, both past and current events. It is well written by someone who is down to earth and brutally honest.
About the Author Jay is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and Certified Health Coach with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. His golden retrievers, Elle Woods and Grace Kelly, keep him active and smiling all day long. Jay's sobriety date is October 4, 2009.

Though I know some and am related to some, I have never been one myself. This book, however, does not speak only to those addicted to alcohol. It could be drugs, could be violence, could be overeating or any number of things. What this book is truly about, is finding the reason to change your perspective - and the courage to do so, especially when you've seemingly hit the bottom.If you're a fast reader like I am, you'll polish this off in one day - two or three, if you've got a few other things to do. It is honest, straightforward and does not pull punches; I suspect that this is exactly what Jay Keefe wanted. Nowhere amidst his words are there any inklings of turning this into an epic tale. It is written plainly and openly, by a man who has seen and done some unbelievably bad things, but turned his life completely around.Never did I expect to read some of the stories the author highlights along the way, nor the degree of their severity. It will surprise you on a few occasions, that much is for certain.Above all, I think this story does a great job of highlighting the importance of listening to those who care - though Keefe does accomplish his redemption on his own, it certainly would not have been possible without others in his life. Any fan of fiction can easily agree: Frodo may be the hero, but where would he be without Samwise? For Keefe, helps come by human aid as well as canine: his two dogs, Grace and Elle, are a pivotal part of his recovery. Not a single dog lover in the known universe will be able to keep a dry eye, when the moment comes that Keefe sees what loyalty can do to completely shift one's perspective.Without question, I would recommend this book (paperback or Kindle version) to anyone. Be it inspiration to overcome addiction, accept help, understand personal value, dedicate to a good cause, learn about fitness or just for the love a couple of good Golden Retrievers, "And Drink I Did" will not let you down. It is raw and unfiltered, in more ways than one - delicate sensibilities in regards to a few well-placed F-bombs, perhaps should look elsewhere. It helps those fighting the addiction. It helps those who are witnessing their loved ones fight the fight. Hell it could help someone make a promise to themselves that it's a road they never want to travel. Knowing the author is a real person living life after making it past his obstacles, makes it that much more encouraging to fight for what you want. Fight for what your worthy of....and never forget who was there and who accepted you during the hardest times. Loved the book. Read it once, shared it, and I'll most definitely read it again.

I haven't seen Jay since then but after reading his book I feel like I know him By DJB As a child, my family and I would go up to visit the Keefe's at the lakehouse in NH. I haven't seen Jay since then but after reading his book I feel like I know him. The book is courageous story built on the honesty of a man who was willing to re-evaluate his priorities in life. Well worth reading
