About the Author Jessica James is an award-winning author of historical fiction and nonfiction ranging from the Revolutionary War to modern day. Writing with stirring patriotism, compassionate intelligence, and a heartfelt sense of true romance, Jessica thoroughly captures the hearts and minds of her readers. While she has specialized in exceptional historical fiction, her first contemporary work, "Meant to Be: A Novel of Honor and Duty", is an equally well-written, thrilling romantic suspense story. A chance meeting on the beach of Ocean City, Maryland would at first seem to be just a brief shared moment of time for Lauren Cantrell and Michael "Rad" Radcliff. Each has their own private agenda, their own duty to serve, and the limited hours they spend in each other's company are very special. They part, not sure if and when they will ever see each other again, but the hand of Fate will have its way. Just a few weeks later, Lauren and Rad are unexpectedly reunited on a top secret military mission to take place in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Lauren is the undercover operative who will lead Rad and his men to their target--one of the most wanted terrorists in the world. This is a blow you out of the water, keep you on the edge of your seat novel that will have you wanting to finish it in one sitting. I had never heard of Jessica James prior to reviewing through The Book Enthusiast, but I have to say this is one author I plan on adding to my shelves in the near future. Beautiful cover, outstanding writing, and a story that will leave the reader's head reeling this is a must read!It was a chance meeting between Lauren Cantrell and Michael "Rad" Radcliff. A chance meeting that meant the world to them, and so little to everyone else. Within the first few hours of meeting the duo had taken an immediate liking to one another, and really hit it off. The chemistry between the two characters was outstanding; from the moment they laid eyes on one another there was something there that was special between the two of them. Throughout the beginning of the novel both of their pasts and current lives are kept very secretive which adds to the suspense of it all. When their time together comes to an end it is unclear whether the couple will ever see each other again.As fate should have it the couple is reunited in the most inconvenient way just a few short weeks later. A secret mission, lead by Lauren Cantrell leads her right back to the man that she never thought she would see again. Michael is just as shocked as Lauren, but the pair must keep it to themselves that they have met in their lives. Hard as that may seem they have a mission; one that will ultimately lead to one of the largest military secret operations ever. Lauren, and Michael have to keep it together in more ways than one to complete the mission. Only then can they take either a step forward, or move on with their separate lives that will ultimately lead to their happily ever after...or not.A great read that will have you quickly flipping the pages to get to the bottom of this couple. A must read that I need on my shelf!

This is truly a good read with romance, suspense and patriotism. Strong characters with love of country. I highly recommend this book, and I also recommend this author for future books.
