While side-lined with an injury, the author unwittingly packed on the pounds because of the inactivity. She realized she needed to make some lifestyle changes and only had a short window of time in which to do it. She had tried all the usual fad diets but then always fell on her face without losing a single pound. She then learned to retrain her brain and changed her vocabulary to help her lose weight. She also planned ahead by using a journal to see what and when her weak spots were. By developing a specific mindset to weight loss, she was able to lose more than her original goal and feel much better about herself.

I liked the fact that the author appears very genuine and open about her weight loss journey and how it came to be. I, like the author truly believe that not only due you have to eat properly but you must have a good mind set if you are trying to lose weight. Our minds do play tricks on us as the old saying goes and to begin and continue any weight loss regimen we must have the right mind set if we are going to be successful. I think one of my favorite things the author says is“ Don’t eat your emotions, Hack them.”

I am a huge fan of the way Kristina (the author) views the world and the task of weight loss. When she said that people rely too much on magic fixes I pretty much was sold on her complete idea about weight loss and a positive lifestyle. So many people give up on a healthy lifestyle because food is just "always there" and Kristina talks about taking control of your life in a way that really motivated me to look at the way I eat and even the way I see food.
