I found it fascinating that many of the everyday diet choices that I already make are incorporated in this book. I love the emphasis placed on whole grains, healthy fats and fiber-rich foods. I also enjoy reading about this diet, because its recipes are easy to read and are not restrictive. Incorporating a healthy diet is not a fad but a lifestyle and that is what this book explains. Learning about the research and facts surrounding this diet, is extremely useful. For example, it feels good to take part in a diet that reduces and prevents chronic illnesses and heart disease. This book educates it readers in understanding the benefits of its diet. It teaches us that its diet is easy to follow, and stick to. I found its recipes very detailed and simple to master. After a while of trying this unique diet, I truly believe that anyone that follows this diet can incorporate it for a lifetime, because it truly results in a healthy lifestyle change.

Many of the ingredient lists do not have a measurement, several are incomplete, and a few have confusing instructions. And no, I am not illiterate. The food pyramid looks like it was cut and pasted from something else, it's tiny and is also incomplete. The author tells how good this diet is for us because of the fresh ingredients and lack of processed foods and then proceeds to include processed foods in many of his recipes. I feel like I threw away my money. I'm an avid reader and rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to write this because I purchased this book based on all the glowing 5 star reviews and I don't want someone else to make the same mistake as me....at least not without a warning. I am a very good cook and know my way around a kitchen as a former caterer. I am also familiar with Mediterranean cuisine having just returned from a two trip to the Tuscan Coast.
