About the Author David Placeres is a former certified public accountant who did his career mainly in financial consulting. He holds a business degree from the University of Puerto Rico. An unusual turn in his early professional life landed him on a job as photographer and journalist for a sports magazine. His first published story was about a race car driver at the age of twenty-three. Years later he took a job writing a weekly opinion editorial for a newspaper in Puerto Rico. The idea of writing a long story was always in the back of his mind. His adventurous journey through Russia provided him with the frame into which to place such a story for his first book Sunless Shadows (Sombras sin Sol). David Placeres is bilingual in English and Spanish and is the author of both language editions of his writings. He lives in the United States, and as an avid photographer, he combines his writing with his photos.
