The Perfect Handbook By Pixygirl As a complete novice to the world of cocktails, I was lucky to received HOW TO PRACTICE THE ZEN OF COCTAILS in exchange for a fair and honest review. This beginner’s guide to creative cocktails at home is both instructive and surprisingly entertaining. I had no idea how to stock a bar—where to start? The easy to follow guidelines helped me set up an in-home, relatively inexpensive arrangement. I particularly like how various recipes are grouped under the alcohol of choice, as I make more vodka and whiskey based recipes, and there’s no need to waste time with cocktails made with other spirits, not unless I choose to. I learned the difference between fizzy waters, syrups, sweeteners, and bitters.This book was written and illustrated by an artist, and her drawings bring a lot to the party. I enjoyed the anecdotal notes as well. This is a good handbook for anyone who is interested in making cocktails that aren’t chock full of preservatives and additives; you can make your own tasty Pomegranate Cosmo with natural ingredients. Or try the perfect Old Fashioned and impress your friends like I did.
