On September 11, 2001, Jennifer Sinclair, a young Texan living in London, saw her homeland attacked: the World Trade centers, the Pentagon, and a plane that crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. It was difficult to be an American in a foreign country, even an ally of America’s, following these terrorist events. Now married to Colin Sinclair, a senior British detective, she never expected the climate of terrorism from the United States to sweep across the Atlantic and bring an undercurrent of fear to the United Kingdom. Early in 2002 a terrorist attack occurs in London. Then a new danger appears on the quaint streets of Hampstead, her northwest London home.
This New Scotland Yard crime suspense novel is peopled with unforgettable, complex characters. Jenny, the female protagonist, must learn how to overcome psychological trauma. Will Sergeant Casey, one of the strong male characters, be able to use his Special Forces warrior’s mindset to help her deal with her potential danger? Can an ex-Royal Army chaplain provide comfort and hope in the face of grief and loss? Find the answers in this intense, moving, and compelling sequel to The Witness.

From the Back Cover "First Kryske gave us The Witness, a gripping legal and psychological drama. Now the verdict is in on The Mission, which highlights the atmosphere of terrorism following the 9/11 attacks. Men as well as women will enjoy this timely, riveting, suspenseful story." JOHN-EDWARD ALLEY, Partner (Retired), Ford & Harrison, LLP "Spot on! Portrayals of police ops were accurate and realistic. This American author has done extensive research. Realistic characters as well; some of them even reminded me officers I knew on the Job. Good storyline. A really good read!" IAN CHADWICK, Specialist Firearms Officer (Retired), London Metropolitan Police "I was privileged to command men and women much like the characters in this very authentic and enjoyable book. The firearms officers read very lifelike from a professional perspective; indeed their frequent intensity is exactly as I have seen from the longer-serving more experienced staff. And Kryske was also able to spring a couple of surprises on me!" BILL TILLBROOK, Chief Superintendent (Retired) Commander, Specialist Firearms Command, London Metropolitan Police"A heartbreaking yet ultimately hope filled story, The Mission chronicles the trauma and recovery of sudden grief, something the author clearly understands from her experience with Hurricane Katrina. Intense, moving, profound." MARJORIE A. HUSBANDS, MA, Licensed Professional Counselor

This book grabbed me from the get-go and held me to the end. It started with terrorism in the USA, added terrorism in the UK, included a truly creative and creepy bad character, and finished with an insidious type of domestic terrorism on northwest London streets. I liked the complex characters (British detectives, former British Special Forces, former Texas college graduate, and others) so much I didn't want the book to end. The female protagonist as well as the strong male characters left impressions on me long after I finished the book. The grief and loss discussed were so real and personally felt. Tragic, intense, gripping, funny -- I can't recommend it highly enough.

I like the short chapters full of suspense, romantic encounters, interesting well-researched facts and the feeling of being there. A very authentic & compelling story filled with life's adventures, surprises and always a message that hope and faith will triumph. Easy to read and could not wait to see what happened next. Bring on the next one, Naomi!

By theauntfarm The author guides the reader carefully along Jenny's emotional and spiritual journey through trauma, dependency, love, healing and back to independence using literary and scriptural references. I was drawn to empathize with her feelings and the decisions she had to make. This is a very good read that held my interest throughout the story.
