1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. To Seize a Second Chance (3.5 stars) By Book Gannet This second chance romance is exactly what the blurb says. Twenty-two years ago Randi and Court fell in love, family drama pulled them apart, Randi went home without telling Court about the baby – twenty-two years on their children accidentally reunite them all. It’s all pretty straightforward, without any real shocks or surprises. It’s an easy enough read and I mostly enjoyed it.However, wow, does that Thanksgiving meal ever drag on. Randi cycles through so many emotions, over and over, that things got a little repetitive and a touch boring. I just wanted them to hurry up and tell the kids before Drew and Birdie got any closer. Then, despite all her emotional turmoil, Randi just lets Court back into her bed. Considering how slow the chapters dragged on, that side of things was definitely rushed.I could also have done without the cliché trip to New York, full of jealousy and overwork. The whole romantic aspect of the book fell flat for me, especially around this point. Court is so over-the-top English it almost hurt to read at times, while Randi is at times funny and easy going, while at others defensive and jumping to all the wrong conclusions.Thank goodness for the kids. I loved Drew. He’s so laid back, taking everything in his stride, accepting Court’s lost love and the truth about his parents’ marriage. He’s great. I also really enjoyed Birdie’s side of the story. I don’t always think she behaved well, mind, but her whole world has just been upended so I liked that the story gave her time to work through her troubles. I especially liked it when she spent time with Court. In fact I found the Court/Birdie storyline much more interesting than Court/Randi.In all this is an easy read. It drags a little bit in places and Randi’s emotional seesaws and roundabouts did get a little tiresome, but overall it’s enjoyable. No character is perfect (except possibly Drew), nothing is swept under convenient rugs, everything is given time to be processed and the character interactions are fun to read. If you like second chance romances and find the blurb interesting, then you’ll probably like it.(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)

"Her Foreign Affair," starts with broken hearts and doing one's duty, but eventually leads to what should be a wonderful, happily-ever-after twist of Fate for Randi Jean Ferguson and Court Robinson. But Fate isn't done with her twists and turns--at least not right away. Between keeping their two children from making a huge mistake, and learning to trust after a lifetime of being apart--Randi and Court learn the hard way that their HEA might be as elusive as ever.Then again--Randi's love is a "courtly" British gentleman, and Court's is a strong, savvy California woman. What they feel is true passion, so despite all her tricks, what chance does Fate have?

It's a story of second chances, one of my favorite themes. From beginning to end, this story was filled with emotion, love, and humor. Twenty-two years is a long time to wait, but it was well worth it...for Randi and Courtland. I can't pick just one scene and I hate spoiler alerts. It's definitely a must read.
