About the Author Judy Purcell is the author and recipe developer at Savoring Today (www.savoringtoday.com), a food blog dedicated to making dinnertime nourishing and relational. Judy’s interest in cooking began at a young age in the kitchen of their Missouri farmhouse, learning the traditions of gardening and preparing animals. Beyond the farm, modern living introduced processed and convenience foods along with various health issues. Self-taught, she researched, organized and developed recipes around a whole food diet influenced by the impact of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, gluten intolerance, and inflammatory diseases among family and friends. Returning to childhood lessons, the center of this focus on cooking whole food was a consistent family connection at dinner. This passion for authentic connection around healthy meals endured in the midst of working, homeschooling, and raising a family. Throughout her writing, cooking classes, and life-coaching, Judy shares the heart and practical knowledge that cooking is serving, ingredients matter and savoring is better than consuming. I received this cookbook as a gift and have just started diving into it by cooking the Thai Chili Wings, best homemade wings of my life! I was going to post a picture but ate them before I remembered I wanted to review the book!What I really like about this cookbook is how it is very well laid out with clear organization and consistency throughout utilizing icons to designate how to make something gluten free or vegetarian. It also gives some general ideas about how to budget for meals and make the best use of your shopping trips.More than just a series of ingredients and instructions this cookbook explains the “why” behind the instructions so you can understand how this step could/should be used for other recipes not listed in this book. It also provides insight as to WHY you should pick a specific quality of ingredient (eg. Aged Balsamic Vinegar over normal), again to help you with increasing your overall cooking knowledge.The sauce section gives you a great way to build your inventory of basic building blocks and encourages you to experiment with using these sauces in different dishes as well as how to make extra and store in some circumstances.This an AMAZING cookbook that will help you grow as a chef in both your skills and knowledge of ingredients.

By Amazon Customer My wife and I both wanted to cook and eat in a more healthy manner, and this book is a treasure trove of recipes to help us achieve that goal. Better still (in my opinion) is how delicious these recipes turn out, even when I try to make them, and I'm not that experienced in the kitchen. The book provides easy-to-follow directions, along with wonderful photos of what the dish will look like upon completion.We've already made the book a gift to several friends and family members, and they have raved about it after making just one or two meals.What has delighted us is that even when I didn't think a certain recipe would be that tasty, it turned out to be fabulous. One night I didn't want to try the salad that had citrus fruit in it, but loved it and went back for seconds.There are several cookbooks in our pantry, but this is the only one my wife has on the kitchen counter, and she uses it constantly.If you are looking for a cookbook, your search is over. This is the one to get!
