“God does not make any mistakes, and in His creative plan for us as His children, He is purposeful and specific.” As a young woman I was often told that I had low self-esteem. I did not understand what true confidence was, and this negatively affected every aspect of my life. Over the last ten years, God has taken me on a journey to discover the truth about godly confidence. Although it was painful and sometimes I resisted, I would not trade those lessons for anything. Are you tired of the unrealistic expectations that the world places on your appearance and personality? Have you experienced dark times in your past, hurtful friendships, or the despair of loneliness? This book is for you. As a plus-sized woman of God, I understand what it is like to have insecurities. Join me in a conversation where we will talk about all of the things no one feels comfortable mentioning in relation to confidence and self-esteem. At the end of our discussion, you will be faced with a choice; either you can choose to believe what God has written in the Bible about His love for you, or you can choose the wide path full of miserable and deceived company. Which path will you follow? I hope that like me, you will finally be set free from the lies that Satan uses to make us feel worthless and unconfident.

I love how each page points you to Jesus and gets you to think about tough concepts that can change your walk with God in an amazing way. I have been very blessed by this book because I have sorely struggled with my own confidence throughout my life. The testimonies and Biblical wisdom throughout each chapter have shown me the importance of surrendering to God and finding my delight and security in Him alone, and HOW to go about doing that.

Strategies for gaining Godly confidence By Valerie Caraotta In this book Kristen Spencer shares her motive of why she wrote it "My heart is to share about my past hurts in an effort to help people that have experienced similar ones. I want people with comparable stories to know that they are not alone, and that God understands their pain. " There are many case examples she gives, including some from her own life, that the reader will identify with while she provides Biblical remedies that will be valuable in facing situations and in going forward. In her search for acceptance among peers, she reflects becoming the recipient of cruel jokes and rude comments. In a defeated state, and struggling with eating disorders, she states "Although I believed God when I read in His word that He loved me and He created me, somewhere deep inside I clung onto the lie that God had made a mistake. " In the past she would allow rude comments about her and assume she was a failure in ministry and life.In this book, she will help the reader overcome areas of defeat. Spencer candidly states that we should not try to make God line up with our opinions of who we think He should be. She shares her mistake of accepting criticism against her without testing them according to God's word. Just because someone is a Christian, she shares, does not mean that their opinions are more important than what the Bible says. The reader will better understand what true humility is and how pride manifests in many ways including low self-esteem. There are questions she presents that you can ask yourself to determine if you have pride. If you have suffered from body image problems or have insecurities whereby you look for validation from others, this is a book for you. Kristen Spencer knows that insecurities happen when we question God's creation. Though people might have let you down, and were not there for you, she will exhort you to be the one to invite your Heavenly Father into situations in your life. There, she believes, you will learn to invoke peace from hurts and unrealistic expectations of others by forgiving fully.Kristen and her husband specialize in discipleship and counseling and I recommend this book because of its quality content. Kristen Spencer has been in full-time ministry with her husband as a missionary in Europe for four years. A native of Torrance California, they have three young children.
